Has anyone got Tutorial 2 to work? It seems a bit vague...

Hi!
I've been testing out Websundew and so far have been pretty impressed.
However it seems that one of _the_ most useful and talked-about requirements is at best confusingly documented; extracting data from sites where there's an initial list of items and then a further 'details' page for each item which needs to be reached and data extracted form.
Say for example a page containing list of companies for which one would have to click on each company name before extracting data form the subsequent page(s).
I think I'm there with understanding Data Patterns, Data Views, Web Macros, Next-Pages, Data Sources etc. but Tutorial 2 (in my opinion) goes all vague at the end - Data Extraction - with regard to the Master & Detail extraction process.
There seems to be some kind of relationship between the Detail & Master extractions ('Parent Field') which relies on telling the Detail extraction which link it has to visit on the master extraction? Tutorial 2 shows the word 'Link' in the Parent Field column ( http://tinyurl.com/2v53ag ) yet no matter which data pattern I choose (DataPattern1, DataPattern2) for the Extraction 2 step there's no 'Link' available from the Parent Field pulldown and the dialog doesn't allow me to manually type & save 'Link' into the Parent Field box.
And while we're on the subject extracting details from a 'secondary page' like this as covered in Tutorial 2 we have two bulleted points;
'Once the two extractions are created, you will need to link them:
? Select the data pattern used for finding the state details links.
? Select the field within the pattern that contains the transition link.'
I really think 'the data pattern' and 'the field' could serve us better if they actually _stated_ the name of data pattern we should choose and _named_ the field. This is a tutorial, by definition I'm new to this product. Which data pattern? Which field?
Has anyone produced a working step-by-step for extracting data in such a master > detail scenario?
Many thanks,
Steve -

I also need this function very much. I have been following the tutorial word by word, but no luck. Not even the example file for tutorial 2 that come with the software works. It return 0 results???
I will buy this software, but ONLY if the multilevel part works correct. Please explain how this is supposed to be working (or update your tutorials)
Thanks, Peter -

Hi
What you need to do is create a Simple data iterator that selects all of the links.
then while setting up the extraction(you only need 1) add a 'child extraction' and click open inn new window then select the pattern with the links to the Company pages and then add the right data field. after that add your datasource to the child extraction.
that should work. -

I will try that.
Regarding the Open in new window: The link to details in my case, is an image and no text, so I only get 'Properties' when I rightclick and not an 'Open in new window'? How do I solve that?
Thanks, Peter -

Sorry for not clarifying the 'open in new window' option is when you are setting up the extraction. not on the browse page if that makes sense.
so once u click create a new extraction, click on Extraction 1(in upper left of the poped up window), then click 'add'(just to the right of previous step), then select 'open in new window' from the dropdown menu. after that add the required pattern & field. then click finish and add your data source to the child extraction. and any next page itterators if needed.
i hope this helps -

Thanks, that cleared up some of it.
However in the tutorial it is show as if the right click action is carried out manually. So my question now is: I have set up the child extraction, but du I just open the detail page manually or...?
Qestion 2: At th every bottom of step4, tutorial 2 you write: What to do with the name, description, image? At first site they have no pairs. We will use link Camera Specification as a tag element as you can find it in any detailed page in one and the same place. Click Finish to complete creating of the pattern.
That does not make any sense to me? I simply do not understand what you mean? PLease explain?
Thanks, Peter -

I 'm having the exact same issues stated here. Has anyone been able to get a step by step process on how to do this type of multi level extraction?
